When two geeks tried to solve their own frustrations around rolling blackouts, they created a now-indispensable app called Eskom se Push. 

EskomSePush was created in 2014 by Herman Maritz and Dan Wells, two web developers based in Cape Town.  It was born out of their desire to make their own lives simpler when it came to planning around scheduled power outages.

The app now tells over two million South Africans every day what outages to expect from Eskom.  It includes a chat facility to that you can update, support and communicate with your community.
